National Maple Syrup Day

National Maple Syrup day had me longing for the delicious rum maple syrup I tried at the One of a Kind show in Chicago a few weeks ago. That would have been perfect for today! Instead, I headed over to Glazed and Infused to try to find a maple flavored donut. Ironically, when I got there, the maple bacon donut that they had just didn’t sound appealing, so instead, I got a sufganiyot to celebrate another holiday…. Hanukkah! Now seeing as how I’m not Jewish, I had never heard of this amazing treat, but Abby told me that there’s even a song about them. The more you know!

So after going to get donuts, we headed to our last day of Web Development 2, where to celebrate our teacher brought us…. donuts!! So I ended up celebrating national maple syrup day with a piece of a maple bacon donut after all!

It was overall a donut-ty delicious sweet sort of day!

National Violin Day

Today, in honor of national Violin Day, I watched some Lindsey Stirling videos on YouTube. If you’ve never heard of her, you should check her out! She combines violin and dance in some incredible videos (and live shows, but I haven’t gotten the chance to see one yet!

National Pastry Day

I have two words for you: Cheesecake. Martini.

So today, I decided that instead of celebrating national pastry day with a pastry from Starbucks as I was thinking, I would make one of my 12 Martinis of Christmas that I got for my birthday.

So after deciding that cheesecake is totally a pastry, I decided to go for the cheesecake martini to celebrate National Pastry day. I must say. It was a pretty darn good choice!

I can’t say I really taste the cheesecake in it. It tastes pretty sweet and cherry flavored, but it’s still delicious!

International Ninja Day

Today’s holiday is sort of a throwback… Friday? I went to college for technical theatre and design and our entire job was pretty much to be ninjas! In fact, the ninja that we think of now actually comes from kabuki theatre as a way to blend in with the scenery to change scenes. I’ve changed career paths since then, but I still remember my backstage days while dressed in all black fondly!

In honor of my reminiscing today, here I am dressed in full ninja gear while I was backstage at the Utah Festival Opera back in 2009. Do I look mad? I was! Zach had just stuck a magnet to my earrings! My ears are pierced multiple times so it really stuck. OUCH! Haha

National Cookie Day!

Today for national cookie day, I decided to try out a cookie recipe I’ve never tried before – chocolate crinkle cookies! They’re definitely not perfect (I should have looked at the picture before hand to see how much powdered sugar there really are on these things!), but they’re delicious!
