Today, I celebrated national buy nothing day. Not because of a protest against consumerism in America as it is intended, but because I’m a poor college student and just couldn’t afford to go out and buy things on Black Friday. Instead, I headed over to my aunts house to make pierogis that we will freeze and eat on Christmas! This is something my grandpa makes for every Christmas and since all of his grandchildren have gotten older we (as many of us have a chance to) have decided to head over with our parents to help him make them and make an event out of it! It’s a great day to kick off the holiday season and also a great way to celebrate national buy nothing day!
Very pretty pierogis! Glad you are helping out – they are a lot of work. How do you do the edges so nicely? You might like to check out my current post – https://cookupastory.wordpress.com/2014/12/16/hohoho-up-dating-pirogi-making-for-santa/

Thanks! I’ll be sure to check it out. We actually used asian dumpling presses. They work really well to get a great edge on the pierogis!
